6. CDLI’S communication with families

CDLI works to keep everyone informed of the progress of students throughout the year. To that end, CDLI uses the following mechanisms to communicate to parents.

A.   Family Orientation Session

In the Fall of each year, CDLI hosts a family orientation session to introduce CDLI, its services, operations and resources to parents. Families have the opportunity to experience the equipment, methods and procedures by which their children learn. Dates and details of family orientation sessions will be communicated to schools early in the fall.

B.    Family Teacher Interviews

CDLI conducts family teacher interviews after each reporting period. Parents are free to make appointments with CDLI Teachers to meet in a variety of ways, such as phone, video conference etc.

C.   Direct CDLI Teacher Contact with Home

CDLI Teachers may contact parents/guardians to discuss student behaviour and/or performance/progress. Should a parent wish to contact a CDLI teacher regarding their child, they can find the contact information on our website under “Contact Us”.

D.   Performance Alert Form

CDLI teachers may use a Performance Alert Form to communicate with schools and parents about the progress of a student. The form shows an update or snapshot of the progress of a student at any given date in time. The form is generated by the CDLI Teacher and sent to the school and family.
