Set up Corel Draw

Start the program

  • Start Corel Draw.  If it is the first time you've started it, you may get a message saying it was unable to register components.  Ignore it and click Ok.  It will not affect operation.
  • You will see a screen giving you several choices.  Click on Start a New Project

Set up Page Parameters

Next you will set a number of parameters so that creating a document layout is easy and fast.  You will save the settings as a document that you can use over and over, as often as you want. Don't click on OK until you have completed all the changes.  Read the following, then watch the video to see how to perform the steps.  Click the help button for info on video features.

  • Set up the Page Ruler

The ruler is used to measure the location of things on the page. It can be set in a variety of units of measure. By default, Corel Draw is set to millimeters.

You will set it to inches.

Grid is used to accurately align objects on the page.  It can be set to any size you wish.  With Snap to Grid on, you can place objects very precisely.
