Outcomes
In this lesson you will
- describe a simple network
Students will
- define and describe networks
- distinguish between how circuit-switched, message-switched and packet-switched networks send data
- describe the relationship between the OSI network layers and the IP internet network layers
- investigate wired, wireless and other network components
- create a network topology map
Introduction
This section looks at the purpose, logic, and underlying operation of networks. It gives an introduction to the components of wired and wireless networks, and examines network topologies. Students reinforce this information with an examination of a real world network
Prerequisites
To be successful in this lesson, it would be helpful to know the following:
- The contents of Unit 2, Section 5
