  • distinguish between how circuit-switched, message-switched and packet-switched networks send data
  • describe the relationship between the OSI network layers and the IP internet network layers
  • investigate wired, wireless and other network components
  • create a network topology map

Introduction

This section looks at the purpose, logic, and underlying operation of networks.  It gives an introduction to the components of wired and wireless networks, and examines network topologies.  Students reinforce this information with an examination of a real world network

To be successful in this lesson, it would be helpful to know the following:
