Cel Animation
Assigned Activities Step 2
Create a Coloured Flip Animation
This activity will use the flip animation from Part 1. You will
need coloured pencils. Any colours will do. Markers will
probably not work as they will saturate the paper and bleed through.
Test the animation frequently as you work.
- Colour the balls in each cel. Make them different colours
(one red, one blue for example), but try to use shading techniques to
show the ball is spherical
- Add a shadow to the balls in each cel. Make sure that all
shadows are in the same direction
- Add a very light background colour
Don't worry if the colours are not uniform, of if there are gaps.
Use a light touch, and hold the pencil almost horizontal so that you
shade with the side of the lead, not the tip.
- When you are done, videotape the animation. Digitize the video.
- Alternately, you can video directly to the computer. Give it
a name such as u3s3l1anim2
