Outcomes

In this lesson you will

  • develop an organizational structure for the solution that includes
    • organization and presentation ideas
    • content ideas
    • identification of types of content such as web, text, video, animation
    • an indication of the purpose of each type of content, how it will be used, and requirements for developing
  • write a plan of action for developing the solution
  • document all work in your design portfolio

Students will

  • create a working plan for developing a communications technology solution
  • implement the plan by creating the solution, including development of various communications components.

Introduction

There are four parts to this stage.  It is also the longest stage of the design activity, requiring most of the work.  This is where you will 'build' the solution.

  • Development Plan
    • The development plan is a plan of action for developing the solution.  It will include a listing of all the things you need to create, approximately how much time you will need to complete each, and roughly how they will be organized, including what you intend for them to do
  • Web Site Component
    • If a web site is part of the solution, all other components must be designed to be a part of it.  Determining the overall organization and structure of the web site needs to be done early on.  The web will need a visual look, a navigation structure and other organizational elements
  • Graphic and Multimedia Components
    • This part of the process is used to develop all the multimedia (digital) components of the solution.  Video, audio, animations, and various graphics are typical examples.  Each needs to be planned as a part of the overall solution.  Each also needs individual planning and development.
  • Print Components
    • This part of the process is used to develop all the print (paper based) components of the solution.  This could include questionnaires and brochures or other forms of printed information.

Prerequisites

To be successful in this part, it would be helpful to

  • have your portfolio completely up to date from the previous stages
