Investigation 1: Number Systems & Focus A: Working With Imaginary Numbers
Step B
A summary of the relationship between the various number systems can be stated as follows.
- The natural numbers are a subset of the whole numbers which, in turn, are a subset of the integers which, in turn, are a subset of the rational numbers which, in turn, are a subset of the real number system.
- The irrational and rational numbers are disjoint sets. Both of these sets comprise the real number system.
