Chapter Project

Step E

Hold the straw as close to the bottom of the structure as possible so as not to restrict the motion. Once comfortable with the procedure, you can decide how you are going to measure the movement and record the results. With the smaller structures, however, it may be difficult to get five oscillations. You need to consider just how many oscillations you can accurately measure (possibly three for the smaller buildings), and use this number when finding the natural frequency of the buildings.
