The following hints and suggestions are offered to help you successfully progress through the Case Study and Extension.

Case Study: Designing a Logo

• You may decide to use surface area or volume to investigate the best size for the logo.
• You can opt to use a table of values or a graph.
• The volume or surface area may be expressed as a function of height or radius.

Extension: Adapting the Design

• Don't forget to put appropriate restrictions on the domains of your chosen functions.
• It might be wise to use the same scale for both the x and y axes.

Complete the Case Study and Extension on page 109 of your text as directed by your teacher.
