In this lesson you will learn

• the relationship between mathematics and art

By the end of this section students will be able to:

• develop and evaluate mathematical arguments and proofs
• represent a series in expanded form and using sigma notation
• prove, using the principal of mathematical induction

Prerequisites

To be successful in this lesson, it would be helpful to know the following:

• an understanding of the formulas described in C.Y.U. #6. i.e., the sum of the first n natural numbers, the sum of the squares of the first n natural numbers and the sum of the cubes of the first n natural numbers
