Outcomes
In this lesson you will
- use Venn diagrams to explore probabilities
- examine mutually exclusive and not-mutually exclusive events
- develop the principle to describe P(A or B)
By the end of this section students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the Fundamental Counting Principle and apply it to calculate probabilities of dependent and independent events
- determine conditional probability
- apply area diagrams and tree diagrams to interpret and determine probabilities of dependent and independent events
Prerequisites
To be successful in this lesson, it would be helpful to know the following:
- use a Venn diagram
- calculate theoretical probabilities
