Overview

You were first introduced to the concept of quadratic functions in Mathematics 1204 when and its transformations were explored. This was accomplished by modeling real-world situations with quadratic functions. Also you studied the use of quadratics to model and solve problems through the use of equations  - the zero product property and factoring were used to solve the equations and the the results interpreted in terms of the situation.

This foundation was built upon and used in Mathematics 2204/05 to investigate other ideas in mathematics such as solving trigonometric equations and proving identities. You have considerable experience with the idea of quadratics and their use.

As the introduction to the unit in the text indicates, you will now consolidate these ideas and extend them to other uses of the quadratic. If you have forgotten the basics concerning these functions do a quick review before beginning the lessons.

You should take approximately 20 hours to complete this unit.
