Investigation 2: Properties of Chords (Alternate Method)Instructions for running the interactive window The circle you will work with has one chord CD and a segment EF that passes through E, the mid point of CD. To perform Part 2 of the Investigation, simply click on the point F, hold the mouse button down and drag the segment until it forms a right angle with the chord. Record what you notice about the segment with respect to the centre of the circle? Next drag the chord CD to a different location and repeat moving the segment until it is perpendicular to the chord. Again record your observation with respect to the segment and the centre of the circle. Once you have started to investigate the different positions of the chords, the diagram may get messed up. If it does, to return to the original screen you started with, simply press r. This will restore the screen to the original diagram. When you are finished with the investigation, simply close the window and you will be returned to this page. Do this several other times and then answer Step M of the Investigation on page 211 in your text. |
