By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer questions like the ones in the pre-test below.

Introduction

There are two lessons in this section as follows:

Lesson 01 Zero and Negative Exponents
In this lesson you will review the definition of zero and negative exponents i.e. you will review integer exponents. You will apply these definitions to rewrite simple expressions without exponents.

Lesson 02 Laws of Exponents
In this lesson you will review the Laws of Exponents and apply them to simplifying expressions which contain integer exponents.

Prerequisites

To be successful in this lesson, it would be helpful to know the following:

  • Definition of natural number exponents.
  • How to multiply and divide using natural exponents.
  • The Laws of natural exponents.
