Student Line of Credit

If you require additional funding assistance or are not eligible for government student loans, you can apply for a student line of credit through a bank of your choice. The line of credit amounts vary along with the interest rates. You will be responsible for any interest that accrues during the loan period. The government does not sponsor these loans.

A line of credit is a loan from a bank. Unlike a regular loan with a fixed amount, the bank doesn't provide you with the full amount of the loan at once. Instead, the bank establishes a "credit limit" for you as the maximum amount you can borrow. As you withdraw money the available amount of credit you have is reduced. As you pay the money back, the amount available to you increases.

Students who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents and enrolled at a recognized college or university who are pursuing credit studies can apply for a line of credit or student bank loan.

These banks offer the student line of credit option.
