Liam Cull – SSNL Student Athletic Program Volunteer of the Year

Posted on Jun 27, 2025

CDLI would like to congratulate Liam Cull, a Grade 12 student at Cloud River Academy, for his exceptional dedication to student leadership, athletics, and volunteerism. Liam is currently enrolled in Physics 3204 and Math 3200 with CDLI and is being recognized for his ongoing contributions both in and out of the classroom.

Liam is the recipient of the School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador (SSNL) Student Athletic Program Volunteer of the Year Award for 2024–2025, which includes a $500 prize. This honour acknowledges his extensive volunteer work with junior varsity sports and community youth engagement. In addition, Liam has been recognized as a Scholar Athlete in each of his three years of high school and received a special Graduating Scholar Athlete Pin in recognition of his consistency and academic excellence.

In 2023–2024, Liam was also awarded Volunteer of the Year by Cloud River Academy, reflecting his commitment to school spirit and leadership. Beyond his local impact, he serves as an ambassador with the Historic Sites Association, which afforded him the opportunity to travel to France and Belgium in July 2024 for a battlefield tour of First World War memorial sites. He has again been selected to return for a second tour in July 2025.

Liam is an active leader at his school. As a member of the Leadership Group, he has participated in fundraising initiatives and organized school-wide events. His passion lies in working with younger students, evident in his volunteer role with the Unplugged Program from 2022–2025, where he led tech-free activities for students in Grades 4–6. He also volunteered with the Tiny Timberwolves Program for children in Grades K–6, helping run recreational programs and events.

Liam is a dedicated athlete who is captain of his school's volleyball and basketball teams. He also plays badminton and table tennis and has trained in taekwondo for the past four years. He enjoys cheering on the Toronto Raptors and saw them play live in Toronto this past February.

Liam is also involved in his community through the Tutoring for Tuition (TFT) program, helping fellow students succeed academically during his three years in high school.

Liam will attend Memorial University’s Western Regional School of Nursing this fall in Corner Brook, NL, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. His long-term goal is to attend medical school and continue his journey in healthcare, helping others and giving back to his community.

We wish Liam continued success in all his future endeavors!
