Annie Walsh – Regional Science Fair Gold Medalist

CDLI is proud to celebrate Annie Walsh, a Grade 12 student at Fatima Academy, for her outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, and community involvement. Annie is currently enrolled in Chemistry 3202, Biology 3201, and Math 3200 through CDLI.

Annie recently earned a gold medal at the Regional Science Fair for her innovative project titledThe Physics of Figure Skating Spins. Her project blended her academic interests with her passion for skating, showcasing her creativity, scientific thinking, and personal dedication.

Annie received several awards throughout her high school years, including Junior Female Athlete of the Year (2022), StarSkater of the Year (2021) at her local skating club, and Scholar-Athlete honours in both 2023 and 2024.

At school, Annie is a dynamic participant in extracurricular activities. She plays on a variety of school sports teams, including basketball, ball hockey, and table tennis. She is a committed member of the student council, helping to plan and organize events, and is also responsible for managing the school canteen with her peers. Additionally, she supports fellow students through the Tutoring for Tuition program.

In her community, Annie has been a volunteer Program Assistant with the CanSkate program at the PARC Skating Club in Placentia for the past seven years. Her dedication to the sport extends into coaching, and she is now a certified CanSkate coach, passionate about mentoring and inspiring younger skaters.

With 15 years of experience in figure skating and synchronized skating, Annie has developed a deep love for the sport. She is also an avid rower, having won both gold and silver medals at summer regattas. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking, spending time with friends, and participating in just about any sport she can.

This fall, Annie will be attending Memorial University, where she plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. Her long-term goal is to become a dentist, combining her love of science with her desire to help others.
