The Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation

In its early stages in this province, distance learning utilized a telephone based system. Today there is a new model that operates through the use of computers, the internet and networks. This IP (internet protocol) based system is much more effective because it provides immediate access, is easier to update and there are many more ways to interact. In our technologically-based society, the earlier students use computers and other technology, the more familiar they will be with the ever changing world of technology.

A few goals of the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation as are follows:

  • To increase learning and career options for students
  • To develop e-learning programs and services for students and teachers
  • To develop and provide courses for high school students
  • To develop and provide professional development for teachers

In summary, CDLI hopes to provide educational opportunities for students, teachers and other adult learners in both rural and urban centers. This will help to provide educational chances to more people. In the future, CDLI hopes to have developed a culture of e-learning in schools that is a common part of school life for both teachers and students.

Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
