Breanna Bromley-Clarke - Janeway Children’s Hospital Fundraising Achievement

Posted on Jun 19, 2025

CDLI would like to congratulate Breanna Bromley-Clarke, a Grade 12 student at Mary Simms All Grade School! Breanna is currently enrolled in Social Studies 3201, OHS 3203, Chemistry 3202, English 3201, Mathematics 3201, and Biology 3201 with CDLI. Impressively, since Grade 10, she has completed all but four of her courses through online learning.

Breanna is being recognized for her extraordinary and ongoing contributions to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation. Her journey began at the age of six when, after watching the Janeway telethon, she was inspired by the story of a sick child. Motivated to help, she launched what became known as the “Breanna Clarke Project.” With the unwavering support of her family, Breanna began organizing and leading fundraising efforts, including ticket sales, bingos, walk-a-thons, volleyball tournaments, and yard sales. Over the past 12 years, her project has raised an astounding $48,283.00 in support of sick children across Newfoundland and Labrador.

In addition to her philanthropic work, Breanna is a passionate advocate for diabetes awareness. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 10 and spent her 11th birthday in the hospital. She is a dedicated advocate who has used her own experiences to educate others about symptoms, emergency responses, and misconceptions related to the disease. She actively raises awareness during diabetes week, month, and other observances, sharing her story to promote understanding and empathy.

Breanna's dedication has been recognized with several awards. In 2018, she received the CARES Award. In athletics, she was named Most Sportsmanlike Player at the 2023 SSNL Volleyball Provincials, and her team received the Team Sportsmanship Award in both 2022 and 2023. Most recently, she was selected to participate in the Trail of the Caribou Program, which will take her to France and Belgium to honour and remember Canadian soldiers.

An avid volleyball player since Grade 6, Breanna has represented her school at numerous tournaments, often as one of the few girls competing on predominantly boys’ teams due to limited team numbers. She also contributes her time as a volunteer coach.

Her spirit of community service extends beyond the school gymnasium. Breanna frequently volunteers in her town, supporting and organizing events such as Canada Day celebrations, Remembrance Day ceremonies, senior suppers, wing nights, and community clean-ups. She is always eager to lend a hand wherever it's needed.

Outside of her many responsibilities, Breanna enjoys a wide range of interests, including walking and hiking, reading, traveling, poetry, music, playing New York Times games, cosmetology, and spending quality time with loved ones.

After high school, Breanna plans to attend Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her goal is not only to help others through healthcare but also to embody the change she wishes to see in the world. With her heart set on making a difference and her curiosity for travelling the world driving her dreams, there is no doubt that she will achieve remarkable things.

We wish Breanna continued success in all her future endeavors!
