Malorie Osmond Awarded Prestigious Loran Scholarship

Posted on Dec 14, 2021

CDLI is pleased to celebrate a special achievement by former student, Malorie Osmond, who attended Fogo Island Central Academy on Fogo Island (Class of 2021).

Malorie is one of 30 exceptional young Canadians who were selected from a pool of more than 6,000 applicants to be a Loran Scholar. Applicants are awarded this prestigious opportunity based on evidence of character, commitment to community service, and leadership potential. One of Malorie’s CDLI teachers shared that she is a problem-solver, inquisitive and a wonderful addition to any group.

Loran Scholars receive opportunities to explore, develop, and share their talents over four years of undergraduate study at any of our 25 partner universities. Each Loran Award includes an annual stipend of $10,000 and matching tuition waiver, access to $10,000 in funding for summer internships, one-on-one mentorship, and annual retreats and scholar gatherings. Malorie has chosen to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Memorial University.

Malorie has also been celebrated in the Memorial University Gazette.

The staff of CDLI send Malorie our sincerest best wishes on this incredible achievement!
