Welcome

Free tutoring for students in Newfoundland and Labrador is provided through two programs; Tutoring for Tuition Program (TFT) and Tutoring/Work Experience Program (TWEP). These programs are funded by the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment (HRLE), in partnership with the Department of Education, School Districts, the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers Association (NLTA) and the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI).

Through the Tutoring for Tuition Program, Level I, II, and III students have the opportunity to earn tuition vouchers toward post-secondary education by tutoring other students, ranging from primary to high school. This service is available in both face to face and online environments. Online tutoring is provided by CDLI. This program normally runs the entire school year and tutors may work up to 120 hours and are paid at a the current minimum wage. Tutors will be paid their voucher at the end of the program.

Through the Tutoring/Work Experience Program post-secondary students return to their high school to provide tutoring services to students preparing for year-end exams. Tutors earn weekly stipends and tuition vouchers toward post-secondary over 6 weeks. This service is available in both face to face and online environments. Online tutoring is provided by CDLI. This program runs from early May to mid June.

Additional information on these services can be found by exploring various headings on this website. You are encouraged to contact your local school, school district or CDLI to inquire as to how to become a tutor or receive tutoring services.
