Swift Current, Saskatchewan
Constructed in the spring of 1986 in memory of Wartime and Peacetime veterans, Royal
Canadian Legion members and members of the Ladies Auxiliary.
This wooden memorial, located at Memory Gardens Cemetery and another like it at Mount
Pleasant Burial Park, are dedicated to fallen veterans and Ladies Auxiliary Members
buried in each of these two parks. The memorials were built in 1986 by Legion Member
Bill Wiebe and stained by his wife, Barbara. The four bronze plaques were ordered by
Warren's Funeral Home. The total cost was donated by the Ladies' Auxiliary of Branch
#56 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Swift Current. In July, 1995, the memorials were
rebuilt and refinished by Last Post Chairman Harvey Wiebe, and the top lettering was
redone by Mike Connor.
