Philipsburg War Monument
Monument aux braves de Philipsburg

Rue Montgomery et route No 7, Philipsburg (Missisquoi), Québec.

The first monument erected in Philipsburg was built and donated by Missisquoi Marble Ltd.

It was erected at the corner of Highway 7 and Montgomery Street. In 1965, Branch 82, Royal Canadian Legion bought the English school on top of the hill. In 1966, a new three-lane road was made from the Canadian customs to St-Jean, Québec. In the process of building the new road, the monument was damaged beyond repair.

Mr. J.J. Caron, mason by trade, built the present monument from pieces of marble taken from the old one. The names of the soldiers, airmen, and sailors who were killed during the 1939-1945 conflict were inscribed on the monument along with the names of those killed during the 1914-1918 conflict.
