Kahnawake War Memorial

The Kahnawake War Memorial was constructed in memory of veterans who died in combat that served in Canada and the United States during World War I, World War II, and the Korean Campaign.

The tall flag pole became part of the monument in November 1998. The flag pole was moved 50 feet from it's original location and erected directly behind the monument. Since the community has had large number of U.S. veterans the U.S. and P.O.W. flags are flown with the Canadian flag.

The incription on the monument reads:

1914-1918

To the glory of God
Killed in the Great War
We loved and were loved
And gladly gave our live
For freedom and our country
Now content and peaceful
We lie in France
Lieut. John R. Stacey R.A.F.
Angus Splicer, Angus Laforce,
Wm Daillaboust, Mike Douglas.

1939-1945

To the glory of God
And in grateful memory of the
Mohawks of Caughnawaga who gave
Their lives in World War II
U.S.A.
Peter Montour, Harold Deer
Edward Montour, Leonard Rice
Canada
John Hall
They followed in their brothers footsteps.
