East Clifton Monument
 
 
East Clifton, Quebec.

Constructed in 1920 in memory of the men and boys of East Clifton.

This is a very small town on highway 253. The monument is located in front of the church.

On one side of the monument is an inscription that reads:

Dedicated to the memory of the East Clifton Boys who gave their lives in the Great War.

Inscribed at the bottom of the monument on this side:

Died on the field of battle
T'was noble thus to die
God smiles on valiant soldiers
Their records are on high.
1914-1918

On the other side is:

Pte. Douglas Gorringe, 1st Batt. R.H.R., Dec. 26, 1940, England
