The original Memorial was constructed in 1937 in memory of Native Sons who Paid the Supreme Sacrifice in World War I.
The inscription on the plaque reads:
"TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF OUR NATIVE SONS WHO PAID THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE GREAT WAR"

In 1970 the first Memorial was replaced with a grey granite Monument. This Monument was constructed in memory of the Native Sons who Paid the Supreme Sacrifice in World War I (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945).
The inscription on the monument reads:

ALSO IN EVERLASTING GRATITUDE, TO THOSE WHO, DARING TO DIE, SURVIVED The 1999 the original brass plaque was refurbished and is now mounted in the Kings Playhouse, Georgetown. The brass plaque was rededicated on November 11, 1999, Remembrance Day, and unveiled again to the public by the Honourable Lawerance MacAulay, Solicitor General of Canada and His Worship Mayor Mark Gotell of the town of Georgetown.
