The Thornhill pool,
which was officially opened on June 16,
1950, was dedicated to the memory of those
from the village who served in the two
world wars. The plaque was unveiled by
Mrs. William Riddell who lost a son in
the first war and by Mrs. Roy Wice who lost
a son in World War II. from
