Harold Cross Roads, Ontario
This Memorial was constructed in 1922 in memory of the
fallen in WWI and rededicated after WWII 1948.
From the foregoing it appears that the town council assumed financial responsibility for the cenotaph and its upkeep. Exceptionally, the cenotaph carries not only the names of the Fallen but also of all those who served.
The memorial column and plinth is in red flecked marble, surmounted by a head and shoulders replica of a WWI soldier, with peaked cap. The front face of the plinth has, etched in outline, a pair of crossed cavalry swords.
The inscription on the Cenotaph reads: THEY GAVE THEIR TODAY FOR OUR TOMORROW
