Parkhill Cenotaph

Parkhill, Ontario

The War Memorial in Coronation Park, Parkhill was erected in 1928. The monument is made of granite, with a bronze sword in memory of veterans killed in WWI, WWII and the Korean Wars. Relatives of the deceased were given the opportunity in choosing the site. It was unveiled during the "Old Boys" celebrations of 1928. Father L.P. Lowry, former Chaplain of the Canadian Mounted Rifles, gave the opening address. Reverend E.S. McKegney gave the opening prayer and Col. F.A. Lister, D.S.O.A.A.Q.M.G.M.D., performed the unveiling followed by the "LAST POST". The Middlesex Light Infantry led a parade to the local cemetery where several thousand paid tribute to our heros.

The municipality gathers around the base every Armistice Day and pay tribute to these fallen heros, led by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #341, Parkhill.
