Merrickville Cenotaph

400 St. Lawrence St., Merrickville, Ontario

Constructed in memory of all the men and women who gave their life in the service of God, King/Queen and Country. Originally, the plaque was for WWI with WWII and the Korean Conflict added even later.

Constructed in 1938 in time for Remembrance Day (about the same time as the National War Memorial in Ottawa).

Memorial services of Remembrance have been held at the Cenotaph every November 11 since 1938. In June 1995, a special service was held to commemorate the end of WWII. It was held in latter June and included Victory in Europe and Victory over Japan memorial celebrations.
