Lakeview Park, Port Colborne

Lakeview Park Cenotaph
This monument is located in Lakeview Park in Port Colborne.

It was constructed in memory of the soldiers of W.W.I. and W.W.II who gave their lives in the service of their country. In 1952, there was a parade of the Canadian Corps of Unit 43 and the Canadian Legion Branch #56 to precede a dedication ceremony at this cenotaph. Mayor G. Smith Macdonald unveiled the new bronze plaque bearing the names of all those who sacrificed their lives in both World Wars. This plaque replaced the original plaque which named only those who fought in World War I.
