This Cenotaph was constructed in memory of the men who gave their lives in World War I and World War II,
from Port Colborne. In 1952, a
parade of Canadian Corps Unit 43 and the Canadian Legion Branch 56, preceded dedication ceremonies at the
Cenotaph,
where Major G. Smith Macdonald unveiled the new bronze plaque bearing the names of the fallen of both World Wars,
replacing the old plaque which bore only the names from the first World War.
