The two stone cairns,
one on each side of the entrance to the
Ancaster Township Hall, unveiled October
17, 1925, originally had identical
plaques. After WWII, the plaque on the
left was replaced with a matching one for
those killed in that war. The metal arch,
whose ends were supported by the cairns,
was removed for safety reasons. The
present Town of Ancaster maintains a
lower positioned light atop each cairn. |
