Onanole Memorial Cairn

 

 
Onanole, Manitoba

The War Memorial was constructed in 1984 in memory of the war veterans and pioneers.

This cairn situated in the village of Onanole, was built at a cost of $3000.00. It was financed by the Onanole Legion Branch #191, and the Onanole United Church, and a substantial donation from Elsie Hall of Victoria B.C. Tom Arkison built the base and Dave Proven provided the stone. A Dedication Service was held on Nov. 11th, 1984.

There are three plaques on the Cairn.
The plaque on the front, facing east reads: "This cairn erected by the Onanole United Church, and the Onanole Legion Branch #191, Dedicated Nov.11, 1984.

The plaque on the right side facing north, reads as follows:
"To honor all those comrades who paid the supreme sacrifice, in both World Wars 1914-1918 and 1939-1945."

The plaque on the left side facing south reads as follows:
"To honor World War I veterans and pioneers who settled in this area, and their children who served in World War II."
