The Esquimalt War Memorial, located in Memorial Park, was designed by architect Hubert Savage, A.R.I.B.A., and unveiled on September 8, 1927, to honour those who fell in the Great War. Brass tablets with inscriptions were provided by the Esquimalt Branch of the (I.O.D.E.), as well as a brass tablet added in 1947 to honour the fallen of WWII. On June 6, 1993, a brass plaque honouring Esquimalt War Dead was placed on the Cenotaph, containing a list of names of those fallen in WWI and WWII. In addition, plaques honouring the Korean War Dead and Merchant Marines have since been placed on the Cenotaph.
