Thorhild Cairn

Thorhild, Alberta

The Thorhild Cairn was unveiled June 14, 1952 in memory of those who gave their lives for their country.

The Legion Branch leased a piece of land from the Northern Alberta Railroad for the Cairn. The lease was for the duration of 90 years at 1.00 per year. The legion members hauled the rocks used in the construction of the Cairn. They purchased gravel, sand, and cement. A stone mason actually constructed the Cairn. A bronze plaque was purchased to be placed on the Cairn.
