Cause of Earthquakes

Description

This video focuses on the cause of earthquakes. Through the studies of seismology, scientist believe that rocks at convergent boundaries and transform boundaries move in opposing directions and elastic strain gets built up deforming the rock. This elastic strain in the rocks when released as energy generates an earthquake. The point where the energy is released is called the focus and the epicenter is located on Earth’s surface directly above the focus. A sample question is included at the end.
