Plate Tectonics and Newfoundland

Description

This video focuses on the formation of Newfoundland according to the plate tectonic theory. In the Paleozoic era, the Iapetus Ocean was closing and the collision of plates caused the formation of the Appalachian Mountains. As a result of the tectonic activity, Newfoundland consist of three main parts, the Humber zone in the west, the Central Mobile belt in the middle of the island, and the Avalon zone in the east. A sample question is included at the end.
