Bedding and Fossils

Description

This video focuses on stratification (bedding) and fossils. These two features are common in sedimentary rocks and indicated the environment in which the rock forms. Cross-bedding and graded bedding are two types of stratification seen in sedimentary rocks. Fossils form through the preservation of hard parts that are buried in sediment rapidly. Fossils can indicate the sedimentary environment, the age of a rock and type of climate. Fossils can also be used to correlate rock layers and to determine evolutionary pathways. A sample question is included at the end.
