![]() ![]() Classification of Sedimentary RocksDescriptionThis video focuses on the classification of sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks are grouped according to their process of formation. If the rock results from lithification of sediment, such as, pebbles, sand, silt, and clay it is classified as clastic (detrital). If the rock results from chemicals precipitating from solution, it is classified as chemical. If the rock results from the organic compounds, such as coal formation, it is classified as organic.
