Molecular Genetics Introduction Part 1

Description

This MLO will examine the chemical basis for heredity.  The experiments and research that was conducted led to the identification of DNA as being the chemical basis for Heredity.  Through an examination of the work of Hershey and Chase and others you will gain an understanding of how DNA was isolated as being the material responsible for Heredity.

Also examined in this MLO is the process by which the structure of DNA was determined.  The work of Franklin, Pauling, Watson and Crick all contributed to the determination of the Chemical structure of the Molecule.

The exact structure of DNA in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes is also examined.  The differences between them are highlighted.
