Mathematics instruction in North America strives to follow the guidelines and standards published by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). The NCTM's E-Standards online document creates a vision for Mathematics teaching and learning. This Overview gives a rationale and description of the Standards 2000 project, which resulted in the comprehensive document titled "Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (2000)".In Canada, provincial and territorial governments also publish their curriculum guides, learning outcomes documents, and course descriptions online. Newfoundland & Labrador : An Elementary Math Guide and Intermediate Math Guide are available in PDF format. Course Outcomes are also available for all grades, in either PDF or WordPerfect format.
