Do you have a homework or assignment question that has you stumped? Did you have trouble understanding today's lesson at school? There is help available on the Internet! Experts are available to answer your questions. There are also FAQs and other databases/archives where answers to common questions can be found.
Here are links to some of the better sites for student help. Please note that some of these have subscription fees. Ask Dr. Math : This is one of the top-rated help sites for math students. There are archived collections for each of Elementary, Middle, and High School. If the answer doesn't appear in the archives, you can try the Dr. Math FAQ or Send your question to Dr. Math.DiscoverySchool's Webmath offers math homework help and math word problems in a Subject-oriented Index. There is also an Alphabetical Index. You can choose a topic, enter your math problem and click for an explanation of how it's done and then get the answer. You are reminded that you won't have Webmath when you take the test and that you should try the next problem on your own. Aplusmath.com's Homework Helper will allow you to input a problem and your answer. It will then figure out if your solution is correct. QuickMath on Algebra Online is an automated service for answering common math problems quickly and easily. Your question will be processed using QuickMath and a solution will be generated. Suitable for all grades. Math.com's Homework Helper provides help organized into many subject categories and hot-lists. It has a comprehensive lesson for each including tutorials, examples, and a chance to practice your skills. There is also a section for Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry (for grades 7-10) Math.com's Ask an Expert provides an archive of previous questions and answers, as well as options to ask your own questions or find an expert. Mrs. Glosser's Math Goodies Homework Message Board assists students who are struggling with specific math homework problems. Volunteer teachers will guide you toward finding an answer. Color Math Pink is the only web site designed specifically to help middle school and high school girls excel at math. In return for a $25 per year subscription fee, it promises access to homework help, math improvement programs, a tutoring center, and other features. Gomath.com provides free math online help and tutoring services. Featured are: Algebra Solutions which provides lessons, practice, worksheets, and answers to algebra problems. Covers topics from pre-algebra and algebra in grades 5-12. Geometry Solutions is a sophisticated calculator that shows and explains the formulas to calculate the perimeter, lateral and surface areas, and volume of plane and solid geometric figures. You may enter your data and have the calculator find the answer. Suitable for grades 7-12. Formula-to-go provides tables of formulas and values for all branches of mathematics. Previous Questions & Solutions Archive provides answers to more than 14,000
previously submitted student questions. All entries in the database include the question asked and the solution
provided by their tutors. You may find similar problems you are working on or studying For those questions that are not found in the Q-Bank, Gomath offers a message board service. ALEKS is a fully automated math tutor -- available only on the Internet. ALEKS interacts with each individual student and functions as a one-on-one tutor, developing and maintaining a precise and comprehensive assessment of each students' knowledge. The cost is $17.95US per month for each student account. It also requires an ALEKS plug-in. (The system auto-detects if you have the plug-in or not and will begin the installation process if required. You may choose to abort if you wish). Hotmath provides instant, step-by-step solutions to the homework problems in the leading math textbooks. Hotmath helps students learn better and faster by putting an end to being stuck on math homework. There is a membership fee ($9US/mo. or $60US/yr.) but they also offer a guest membership to allow you to evaluate the usefulness of this service.
