The Grand Bay Mall
The Grand Bay Mall opened in 1976. It is located on Grand Bay Road. There were eight buisnesses in the mall when it first opened.They were Bo Jangles, Food Centre, Sports Store, Riffs,
Ayres, Drug Store, Irvings and an arcade.As the mall was opened for awhile, some stores were closed and new ones were opened.
Riffs moved out of the mall. Ayres, Sports Store, Irvings and
the Drug Store are all closed. Peoples Dept. Store came but it is closed now. It's space has been filled by Bargain Giant. There is no
arcade anymore and Bo Jangles is now closed. A lot of other stores had opened but are closed now.Two stores that were
opened for about a year were the Flower Shop and the Dollar
Shop. There was a Crafts Store that closed after a couple of years. Music Plus is also one store that is closed. The Book Nook
opened but closed and R&N Collectors took it's space. R&N Collectors has moved out of the mall. Nancy's Bargain Bin opened
but closed after a little while. Reitman's was open for a long
time but closed not very long ago.
Now in the mall there are
twelve buisnesses. They are Scotia Bank, Envisions, Food Centre,
Unisex Hairstyling, Target,Bargain Giant, Liqour Store, Jeans
Experts, Junes'Newfie Store, Walters Jewelery, Johnsons Insurance,
and a an A&W restaurant. There is also an upstairs which includes
a CEC Office and an optommetrist, Dr. Cote`.
With the fluxuating economy, the stores and businesses in the mall change.
