The Rose Blanche Lighthouse

The Rose Blanche Lighthouse

The Rose Blanche Lighthouse was built in 1873 and was made from granite which was mined locally. The lighthouse can be found at the end of the local road along the point gutting out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Dark cliffs, crashing waves, spume and spray along the route 470 between Port aux Basques and Rose Blanche may provide one of the most enjoyable side trips of your vacation. Now when you walk by the lighthouse you can see all these things happening.

The lighthouse has one of the best scenic views of the Cobot strait. from the headland you can imagine the thrill of discovery that early marineers like Sir Humphery Gilbert,Jauques Cartier and Captian John Mosan must have experienced during their voyages along this rugged coast some 400 years ago. Many Rose Blanche citazens love the view from the lighthouse.

The lighthouse still reflects the heritage of Rose Blanche with its view. The lighthouse still today remains the same mostly untouched by modern advances.
