Stephenville This is a good place to seek out the Common Blackheaded Gull at any time of year. The marsh at creekmouth is also good for Killdeer, Common Snipe and Song Sparrow. The golfcourse adjoining the airport attracts large numbers of both Bl ackbellied and Lesser Golden Plover in the fall, and there have been reports of the Buffbreasted Sandpiper. The tidal flats have an abundance of birds such as the Sanderling, Osprey, Merlin, Shorteared Owl and the Northern Hawk-owl. As well, the large number of gulls on the Stephenville flats have attracted laughing gulls, rare but increasing v agrants in Newfoundland. |
