Corner Brook

Corner Brook itself has little in the way of birds in summer, but it does redeem itself in winter when it offers a livlihood to the continent's highest wintering population of Iceland Gulls - 5600 have been recorded! Counts of Great Blackbac ked, Herring and Glucous Gulls are also impressive in winter when there is always a chance of Thayer's and Common Blackheaded Gulls. A few parties of Common Goldeneye, Common and Redbreasted Mergansers can be found on the Humber River, and Halequin, Bufflehead and Barrow's Goldeneye have appeared in late December when Dovekie occasionally venture up Humber Arm from the Bay of Islands.
