Free Online Tutoring

Welcome to the world of online tutoring. The Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI) is pleased to provide a free tutoring service in each of the following areas. Students should be aware that tutoring sessions follow a question and answer format. Tutors will not be conducting formal presentations but will assist students in understanding key concepts and address any difficulties they may have. Below you will find links to nine virtual classrooms and you can enter whichever one you wish. Each room is occupied by a post secondary tutor chosen for their expertise in a particular subject area. Each tutor will be available approximately 6 hours per week during evening hours. To view the times each tutor will be available, click on the schedule icon below. To use this online service, you will need to download and install Java. Please go to http://www.elluminate.com/support to see if your computer already has the necessary software installed. If your computer does not, links will be given for you to download and install it yourself. It may also benefit you to have a headset with a boom microphone when using this tutoring service. Please click on the room name and the virtual classroom will launch.

To log in, ensure that the Guest option is selected (and not Elluminate Live! Manager User) and enter your e-mail address, your full name followed by your community in brackets in the Display Name field (for exmaple, John Smith (Fogo Island)). For the Session Password, please use "help".

If you have any problems, please e-mail our tutoring coordinator (jessica.squires@mun.ca) or visit her online classroom (room 8) to get help with the tools of online learning.
