The children's blocks emphasize that NLAGC is
concerned about children and their development. The configuration of the blocks
represents the geographic location of our Association: Newfoundland and Labrador.
The lower part of the design is a block design problem of the type that appears in many tests of intellectual ability, including the Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale used by Louis Terman in his pioneering research on gifted children.
To
solve this problem it is necessary to reason that one of the blocks is hidden.
It is this block that bears the letter "G", hidden beneath a block that represents
Rubik's Cube, a challenging children's puzzle. The hidden block reminds is that
giftedness is frequently hidden and underdeveloped in the absence of appropriately
challenging experiences that will permit gifted children to realize their potential.
